Detective said that Henderson was shot in her SUV in Quikrip near the 31st Street and the Bell Avenue. Jackson County's medical examiner later reported that she was shot on the left side of her head.

Court documents show that surveillance videos have gritted the shootout from a nearby company. Detective used the surveillance video to track down the car that Smith left shortly after shooting. They also used the video to identify a witness to the shootout.

The likely cause shows that the witness Smith identified as a shooter and told the detective that he was the only person who carried the unique medallion in surveillance video. The medallion contained his brother's ashes according to the probable cause.

When Detective Smith asked, he told them that he got out of the car to urinate behind Quikrip. He said a homeless person came to him. Smith told the officials that he had fired his weapon twice because of the homeless man into the ground, according to the probable explanation.

Detective then said Smith that he hadn't shot into the ground, but had shot and killed Henderson in her car.

Smith was the first court in court on Thursday afternoon.
