Knowing things about Byron Donalds, Trump's choice, Florida's next governor

West Palm Beach, Florida – The US representative byon Donalds announced that in 2026 he was the next Governor of Florida and positioned himself as possible successor to governor Ron Desantis, who will reach his office for the office after eight years.

The announcement, after Donald Donald Trump, a Republican of Naples, has received a critical confirmation from President Donald Trump, which may eliminate the Republican primary pool in view of Trump's weight in Republican politics. In the election, Donalds would be the state's first black governor.

Here are three things you should know about Donalds who would run in a state that prefers the Republicans in recent years:

Donalds is a convinced Trump allied

Donalds was one of the earliest and longest supporters of Trump after talking to one of his rallies in September 2016.

The MEP was part of 147 Republicans who voted against the elections from the most important swing states in 2020, and repeatedly claimed without evidence that former President Joe Biden was not the legitimate US president.

Donalds is part of the Conservative Congress -Tea party Caucus and is highly viewed by Republican colleagues in his circle. The congress member was nominated several times for House Speaker in 2023 when the US representative Kevin McCarthy won the post, and again when McCarthy was displaced.

Donalds was also on the short list of people who were Vice Presidential Running Load Comrades last year. Throughout the campaign, he acted as a Trump replacement and traveled out of the country to support the president – even the governor of his own state, desantis, by supporting Trump about him in the 2024 elections.

Donalds' encounters with the law

Donalds grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and described his hard -working single mother as a model.

In 1996 he went to Florida and visited the Florida A&M University, where he was arrested in 1997 for possession of the Marijuana offense. The indictment was ultimately released. In 2000 he was charged by the state for bribery, an assertion that he came up with a bad check for financial problems. This record has been extended since then.

Despite these problems, Donalds completed Florida State University in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in finance and marketing. In 2016 he was elected to the Florida House, where he campaigned for school selection and criminal judiciary.

His wife Erika Donalds won a seat in the local school authority in 2014 and founded the Optima Foundation in 2017 to create new schools and support charter schools. At the beginning of this year, Erika Donalds joined the America First Policy Institute in order to lead the Center for Educational opportunities as an advocate of his parents' election in schools.

He had a rocky story with Desantis

Donalds enters the governor race with a loud conversation by Floridas First Lady Casey Desantis, who may follow her husband.

She did not officially announced her intentions, but Governor Desantis said at the beginning of this week that he sees his wife as the best person who continues his legacy in Florida.

In a Fox News interview of a question about Casey Desantis and called her husband a “great governor”, but said it was time to concentrate on the future.

“Now it is the task of keeping the country's best state as the best state of the country,” said Donalds. “That will be the mission at hand.”

In the past, Ron Desantis and Donalds were tight. Donalds presented the governor at his election defense in 2018 and praised him at the beginning of his term. Her relationship was determined in 2023 when Donalds presented himself against nationwide educational standards that Desantis complained about teaching the students of the middle school, learning the slaves, learned skills who later benefited.

“The new African American standards in FL are good, robust and exactly”, Donalds wrote on Twitter at the time. “Apart from that, the attempt to achieve the personal advantages of slavery is wrong and must be adjusted.”

In 2023, Desantis Donalds accused Donalds of aligning himself with the then Vice President Kamala Harris, and asked Donalds to “stand up for her state”.

The relationship continued to be tense when Donalds supported the president with other Republicans in Florida Trump in Florida Trump and spoke out against the efforts of the governor. Although he called Desantis the “best governor of the country”, he said that Trump was “the guy who can do the work on the first day”.
