KPS D3 Match of the Week – Suny New Paltz takes Wentworth in five Down

Suny New Paltz Traveled to Boston to take over number ten. Wentworth. Before the game, the Hawks had a record and expiry season with a record of 9-9. Eight of these losses came to the top 20 NCAA Division III opponents and the Division II Menlo. Before the game against Wentworth, the Hawks had three conferences UVC win against HobartPresent Elmira And WITH. Wentworth came into play with a 14:4 record and a perfect 6-0 in the Great Northeast Conference.

The game went into the distance when New Paltz took out the tip of the tip in five (25-21, 16-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-11). Statistically speaking, both teams were closely involved when Wentworth 54 kills, 22 errors, 124 attempts, 50 assists, six aces, 10.5 blocks and 70.5 points in the game. New Papz recorded 56 kills, 21 errors, 117 attempts, 52 assist, four aces, 13 blocks and 73 points. “I thought the match against New Paltz was a great opportunity for us to play a conference game from the conference in the second half of the season. We have not been in a five-set match since the opening weekend and have to familiarize ourselves with this feeling if we see that we play the route in important conference. We have to continuously find ways to improve if we want to extend our season until the end of April ” Wentworth head coach Evin Giglio.

Although the statistics were tight throughout the game, many of the sets had great lead changes and long races. The Hawks 20-11 were on the set one. Wentworth found a late momentum, but the Hawks came out in Set One to the top 25-21.

Wentworth grouped again to win sentences second and three. The leopards captured the momentum for long distances. During the game, the Leopars got an offensive thrust from the middle Nico Bell and outside Mason Andrade. Bell had 10 kills and hit .643. Andrade added 11 kills and hit .625. “Nico and Mason were both really efficient during the game. Nico is second in the team in the hit percentage and Mason was our most constant oh in the season, so it is no surprise to me that these boys have applied the offensive performance they did. Mason also got past in the game, ”said coach Giglio.

In set four new palz grouped up and took control of the game. They had a comfortable lead and were 23-15. The Leopards managed a five-point run, but the Hawks held on 25-21. The fifth and decisive set was torn down at 7-7. The HAWKs used a late 5-0 run that helps them win victories against the leopards.

In the second year in the second year Michael Spiegel Had killed, blocked and served in time. He ended the match with 15 kills and 4 blocks. Outside Geoff Ndoria Came from the bank to offer an urgently needed spark. Ndoria scored eight kills and hit .636, while he only played in three sets.

New Paltz will continue to fight in competitive UVC. At the beginning of their season, they tested against some top opponents. Towards the end of the season you will play your best volleyball to get a NCAA playoff place. Wentworth tries to recover from this loss and continue to dominate the Great Northeast Conference game.

  • Members of the GNAC-Great Northeast Athletic Conference. You are an affiliate member because the rest of our sport is located in the conference of Neuengland. There are only 4 teams from the cone that currently have men's volleyball: Wentworth, Endicott, Nichols and Curry.

  • They have had 16 all-Americans since 2016. In the last eight seasons, AVCA has been classified nationwide every year. In 2024 they were number one in the country for 10 weeks.
  • Trainer Giglio has two AVCA regions Coach of the Year Awards ('21, '24).
  • Wentworth over 50 all conference selections during this time with several large award winners. The team is currently represented by 14 different countries, and the 2005 class is expanding this with additions from Utah, South Carolina and Delaware.

Have an impact on the community:

The sports department works with special Olympic games. Volleyball recently got involved with the Boston Centers for Youth & Fance. You want to integrate volleyball as an offer in your centers, and Coach Giglio will help to conduct the clinics together with athletes.

They protect local Aau tournaments. There is a national lack of referees, and this gives the athletes the opportunity to give something back to the volleyball community, collect donations and have a deeper appreciation for being a referee.

Academics:

The Wentworth Institute of Technology is a private facility with 4,000 students in Fenway in Boston, Massachusetts.

They offer 26 basic studies that focus on engineering, architecture/design, computer science, tree management and economy.

Consistently nationally and regionally classified among the “best universities” by US News & World Report. Our design management program is classified in the top 5 nationally by numerous branches. A unique aspect in your curriculum is that we are a cooperative school. The students have to work on two full -time employees in this area as a final requirement. This offers you the opportunity to make yourself first -hand before you graduate. Many of our athletes have vacancies in their hands before they even graduated from Koop due to their success.

  • Three-time UVC champions, four-time NCAA semi-final, three times NCAA finalists and two NCAA champions twice.
  • Radu Petrus has been head coach and the most successful trainer to date. Peter is a twice UVC coach of the year, 2016 AVCA National Coach of the Year and two-time national champion.
  • Co -coach Tony Bonilla has been with coach Peter for 12 years. From 1988-95 and 1997-00 he served as head coach. Bonila played for the program from 1984 to 1987 and was recorded in the New Paltz Athletics Hof in Suny in 2002.

Remarkable alumni: Christian Smith, Steven Husmann, Matthew Grace, Pat Wing, Aaron Carrk, Nick Smith and Tim Ferriter.

Academics:

  • The public school, the New York State Institution and the registration are over 7,000 students.
