Los Angeles County issued a warning about fraudulent towing companies that are said to be aimed at Eaton Fire Survivors.

“I think it is disgusting that these fraudulent tow operators have exploited the fire to survivors during their time,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “Those who are behind this hideous system must be held accountable and put to court.”

According to Barger's office, the towing companies allegedly aimed at the areas around the Eaton fire from January 7th, the day on which the fire started. The voters of Bargers said that the operators incorrectly stated that Altadena civil servants were contractual, and then went to vehicles without sharing the owners where they were taken.

The TOW company supposedly called for excessive fees to release the vehicles, some of which were stored in Riverside or San Bernardino County. Barger said the companies also demanded the leaders' leaderships.

“I am demanding everyone who has been victim to report so that we can keep these bad actors from being enough for our communities,” said Barger.

Barger asked potential victims to contact Sergeant Regina Garay from the Task Force of the Domestic Empire Auto Insurance under (909) 919-2242. Those who fight to localize their vehicles are also encouraged to call the task force.

The Task Force staff is available 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
