Lady Topper closes the schedule for the household with a lot on the game

It is a last week with games in the EAD Diddle Arena for the WKU -Senior -Wache Alexis Mead.

The Lady Topper ends the Home Time Plan for Utep on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday at 2 p.m. and is looking for the chance to lock at least one top four in the USA of the Conference in the next month -with efforts on the three seeds or maybe No. 2.

But in the middle of WKUS late season, a little emotions with Mead's four -year career will be received. Mead will be one of three seniors who was honored on Saturday together with the Destiny content and the senior striker Marima Sow.

Mead said she was trying not to think that she has said goodbye to her this week.

“I know it's an exciting day, but it is also running,” said Mead. “I'm not trying to think too much about it.”

In an era in which the transfer portal moved the player champion more than one-off von Mead's four-year career at WKU, there is a rarity. It is one that WKU trainer Greg Collins and his employees do not take for granted.

“It is something special and there is an immense amount of pride – not only for me, but also for the employees and my family, the university, the community,” said Collins. “You have to see how it grows and develops from a high school student to a young woman who is preparing for the conclusion. It doesn't happen as before, but it still can and it is still important. I know that it is important for Lexi's family, just as ours are. We are proud of them. There were so many big moments on the square, there were equal or more outside of the court. “

While the week culminates with the senior citizens' day, there is still work. WKU meets a UTEP team that a deficit wiped out from seven points in the fourth quarter to take the lead late before WKU scored the last eight points to achieve a 65: 59 victory in EL PASO last month.

The first meeting of WKU with the state of New Mexico was not so productive because the aggies came from an 11-point half-time deficit for a 64-59 victory. It is one of just two losses for the road losses for WKU this season. The road success in the conference was rare this year, since Road teams publish a profit percentage of 0.328 in the conference game last Saturday in the game the lowest percentage for every conference in the country.

WKU, Middle Tennessee and Liberty are the only teams that are a victorious street record in the conference game. WKU is 5-2 with games that stay with Florida International and Liberty next week.

“Some of it could only be the trip,” said Collins. “It is a USA. It is almost from coast to coast. The trip is not easy. It's not easy to go to El Paso. It is not easy to go to Miami, then to Lynchburg (Virginia). It is not easy to do this and still know at a high level that you have to be able to maintain practice, film studies and the rest. That could be part of it and then I think teams just play well at home. “

WKU will continue success at home this weekend. The Lady Topper in the conference tournament guarantees a top four seed with two wins that complete the three seeds.

Mead said with so much, she hoped that she can see many fans in Diddle this week. It is a fan base that she is really connected to at WKU over her years.

“I always try to speak and return to everyone because they give first,” said Mead. “They support us at all. They come out when it snows, rains, cold outside. We appreciate that so much. If we can bring more fans here this weekend … would that be a blessing for us. I hope we have a good amount this week. There will be two fun games, two exciting games. Just come out and have fun with us. “
