Lake Wales in the future with plans for new fire stations

After approval of the design work, the city of Lake Wales is moving for a third station planned for the Hunt Brothers Road with the expansion of the city's fire brigade.

A five hectare location in the Southeast corner of the South Ninth Street (Nest Egg Road) was bought in November at a price of 300,000 US dollars after a search in this area was not raised any other location, which was both appropriate and available. Joe Jenkins, head of the fire brigade, informed the Commission at this point that the website “would improve our response time”.

This shiny new truck is the city's latest fire vehicle. The plans require the construction of a new fire station on the south side of the city and the later adding one fourth on the northeastern side of the city.

“We not only closed our eyes and pointed to the map,” said Jenkins. He explained that the locations of the station are of crucial importance in order to achieve the goal of the department of less than five minutes that the department hits “90 percent of the cases”.

Last week, the city commission approved a contract of 246,000 US dollars with parlier architects for the design of the new station, which will be a prototype for future stations, since a fourth station on the city near the city's northeastern side is required.

The Commission also approved a contract of 71,910 US dollars with Colliers project managers to manage the design phase of the project.

“We plan to have a fire station within five miles of most places within the city limits,” said Jenkins. The new design will be a prototype for future fireplaces and optimize the development.

Some of the officers and men from the Lake Wales fire brigade recently posed with their latest truck. The city currently maintains two fireplaces and will soon add a third.

The second stop in the 600 chalet Suzanne Road is expanded to accommodate more staff. The renovation work on the north station includes the expansion of the day room, adding sleep quarters and two new bathing rooms.

The department recently received three new vehicles to react more to emergencies, including a 2024 Pierce Sabre Fire Engine with the name “Motor 2”. The other new vehicles are a 2024 Ford F-150 command vehicle and a 2024 Kawasaki Mule Pro DXT.
