League 1: Exeter City 1-1 Northampton Town

Sonny Cox has scored his first goal for almost a year to save a point for Exeter in her draw with the relegation rival Northampton in St. James Park.

The opening district was a cage, whereby no side corresponded much clear opportunities. However, Northampton had a great chance five minutes before half -time when Alex Hartridge was robbed, but Tariqe Fosu took too long to get his shot away, and Angus Macdonald was able to make the block.

In 42 minutes, however, the cobblestones were at the front when Exeter had no fosu, whose shot was blocked, but Dara Costelloe was at hand to give home the loose ball from eight meters.

Exeter struck almost directly, but Macdonald's excellent strike was saved by Lee Burge and Ben Purlington when the ball was recycled.

The second half was also bad with regard to quality and chances, but with three minutes of remaining Cox to Exeter's Rescue when he ended up close when the Greeks recycled a corner.

He almost achieved a winner, but lasted too long when he scored the goal and was overcrowded by hectic defenders in Northampton.
