Letter from the editor – March 2025

I have been on the streets of the metropolises in Los Angeles for decades. I love to explore neighborhoods that I have never visited on streets and on which I have never seen before. Even if you take into account how big Los Angeles is, it becomes understandably more and more difficult over time. I was on all the important streets and off-you have no motorway off-ramps and the secondary streets between them. Every time I drive somewhere, it's worth it.

When LiveWire's press facilities brought me out for a short journey and some photos on the new S2 Alpinista Electric Sportbike, I had no high expectations. We were from Bartels Harley-Davidson in Marina Del Rey and I am familiar with everything in this area-self-self-self.

We drove to the east – you don't have to go too far west to land in the Pacific Ocean. We worked on the way to San Diego Freeway on the Washington Boulevard and in Culver City and took bicycle photos on the escape. The LiveWire S2 Alpinista is definitely the right bike for this kind of fun.

Moving for a moment to drive from one end of the Washington Boulevard to another is a great experience, especially if you are not familiar with Los Angeles. From the west end, it leads from Venice Beach along the southern border of the city center of Los Angeles, through some impressive industrial areas and the southern range of San Gabriel Valley. Finally it ends at the Whittier Boulevard in Whittier. Music fans will recognize Whittier Boulevard from a Chicano Rock Classic instrumental from 60 years ago by Thee Midniters, even if they have never been there before.

Okay, back to the Washington Boulevard in Culver City. We passed Sony Pictures Studios, where I worked in the 1990s – memories there for a while. Fortunately, I escaped and ended up at Hidrterque publications and worked for ATV campaign Magazine – a big step.

A spelling inconspicuous Duquesne Avenue confused me a little. “Where are we going?” I wondered. We crossed Ballona Creek and arrived at Jefferson Boulevard. We turn left, rode through an industrial area and made some time -saving lanes in heavy traffic. At an intersection that doesn't look much more than one entrance, we decreased on the right at the Hetzler Road. Huh?

Well, the street begins to climb and turns into Baldwin Hills – but no part of the Baldwin Hills in which I was and I thought I had seen everything.

It is only half a mile from Jefferson Boulevard to the Baldwin Hills Scenic Parkic Lot, but what a difference makes half a mile. The view from Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook is absolutely incredible – one of the best in Los Angeles. I continued to shook my head. “How did I not know that this was here?” It didn't hurt that it was a day with haze and smog -free day.

The Hetzler Road has done several tasks. It offered opportunities for cornering shots with a breathtaking background as well as the testing for acceleration, brakes and cornering. And it did everything in half a mile.

The lesson I learned was to run other trips. Because of my far -reaching knowledge of streets in the La region, I inevitably land the guide on urban group trips. However, there are gems that I still have not excavated. Therefore, it is a memory to give up the reins from time to time.
