Lexington Teacher ends after examining the theft of medication

From the Lexington City School System (04.03.25):

Dear parents and legal guardians,

We write to inform you about a serious matter that recently made us aware of. At Caywood Elementary, the security and well -being of our students remain top priority, and we believe in open communication with our school community.

Yesterday afternoon, concerns were made aware of the headmaster's attention that an employee may have stealed medication from closed cabins in the nurse's office. When confirming this misconduct, we took immediate measures and the employee was terminated. In addition, we have reported the incident to the responsible authorities and work completely with their investigation.

We deeply regret that this situation has occurred and understand that it can take concerns. We would like to assure you that we check and strengthen our security protocols to prevent this from happening again. We also carry out a complete examination of all student medication to ensure that a child's health or safety was affected.

If your child kept medication at school and have concerns you have concerns, please contact our school director, Cindy Olive at 731-967-5591 or send an email to oliveC@caywood.org. We endeavor the trust that you place in us, maintain, and will continue to take every necessary step to maintain the highest standards for care and security for our students.

We sincerely apologize for this situation and appreciate your understanding when we work to ensure the continued security and integrity of our school. Please do not hesitate to contact yourself if you have any questions or concerns.

Sincere,

Cindy Olive
Headmaster
Lexington City Schools

We followed with Olive Tuesday morning, which shared the following:

“Our nurse had reported that it looked as if medication had been manipulated, so we went back to our cameras and started to watch the traffic.”

She said while watching the cameras that they identified the person responsible as a teacher. She said they had called the SRO into the meeting and the school officers had met with her this morning.

“We met her and showed her all the evidence we had. She admitted it. “

Olive said the teacher left the building with the law enforcement authorities.

We also spoke to Jeff Middleton, the chief of police of Lexington, the explained:

“No arrest was made at this point. I can confirm that we carry out an active investigation into allegations of theft at our school. “

At that time, the identity of the teacher was not confirmed by authorities. Stay with us on-air and online because we provide an update as soon as details are available.
