Before you go: essential to-dos

Check your telephone plan to your provider to determine whether you need an international plan or whether Wi-Fi calls are sufficient.

Passport PREAP – Press a picture of your passport barcode and scan all important documents (IDs, passports, insurance cards) into a Google Drive folder. Print additional copies and get access to a trustworthy family member.

Look at the travel insurance many credit cards such as American Express include integrated travel insurance or you can purchase a plan through your booking provider.

Check the bay flexibility – we love Southwest & Marriott on your generous cancellation guidelines (for free up to three days earlier!).

Avoid foreign transaction fees – check your credit card for hidden fees and notify your bank before traveling.

Once you have accepted some cash for hand-up credit cards, some experiences such as golf cars (Isla Mujeres) and Jetski Miets (Cabo) are only cash. Be careful with ATM fees – in Isla Mujeres it costs 27 US dollars to withdraw cash!

Hold your e -mail -Use USPS.com to pause the mail delivery while the way.

Help help reference to today – if you use a home service like Tula, plan it so that you can handle garbage disposal, package collection and plant irrigation. Some families even have their home on trips (a great way to compensate for vacation costs!).

Packing Smart: What you really need

For everyone: Pack a hand luggage with essentials (swimsuit, cover -up, medication, skin care) if the luggage is delayed.

Additional shoes – learned on the hard tour when my child's shoe was caught in a escalator in Mexico – Sandals Break, sneakers Rip and new shoes means blowing. Always pack a backup couple!

One way to bring wet bathing suits home – if you swim on the day of travel, use the towel trick to dry suits or pack a reusable waterproof bag.

Bug arm bands and sunscreen-free destinations require riff-safe sunscreen such as Isla Mujeres.

Portable telephone charger – for long days full of sights or navigating airports.

Crossbody Bag or Sling hands-free is the right way, especially for busy airports and markets. The Canvelle Sling bag is a favorite!

For the children: Download films before flight or check the airline's entertainment options.

Touching cars and snacks in Cancun can be a child's play or a two-hour waiting period.

Pool bag essential sunglasses, safety glasses, hats and must-have toys.

A backup outfit in a ziploc accidents, and a fresh garment is a player.

Food, entertainment: maximize fun

Make reservations at an early stage – some resorts require reservations for special restaurants such as Hibachi. If you miss it, try the following: Make an early evening buffet with the children to curb the collapse of Hungry Kernstern, and then enjoy dinner at night when more slots open. Bonus: Children eat much more on vacation thanks to all the swimming and adventure!

Check the theme evenings – many resorts have special events such as white parties, Bubble parties or cultural nights. I always pack theme outfits in our hand luggage so that we can dive directly when our room is not finished.

Scope-out children's clubs and activities that have most family-friendly resorts have children's clubs, but vary hours. If you know in advance, you can plan downtime (or sneak up in a spa treatment!).

Take it slowly and is tempting to plan excursions in a row, but children need downtime. A relaxed beach evening can be as magical as a packed travel route.

Backup plan for indoor and rainy days – Tropical destinations also receive rainy days. Search for resorts with scope, handicrafts or film evenings. If you download a few additional games or shows, you can also save the day!

Transport, security

Airport transfers – Many hotels offer shuttles, but always confirm details in advance.

Car seats – we bring our inflatable vehicle seat for flexibility. Some shuttle services claim to provide them, but do not always follow.

Know your arrival plan – if you land late, you can refresh yourself immediately and immediately fulfill the resort's celebrations.

Fix the expectations with children – before you go, talk about resort rules (nearby, try new foods, figure out activities). It helps to prevent ceremonial melt later!

Last thoughts

Regardless of whether you go to a beach resort, an escape in the city or a family outing, the key to stress -free travel is preparation. A small planning now means more time to relax and create amazing memories. And don't forget – that's your vacation too! Sneak a “me -time”, whether it is a sunset cocktail, a quiet coffee on the balcony or a quick solo walk along the beach.
