Like Cody Franke's Swing -to -do it into a social media star transformed

Cody Franke had booked a vacation after he was hired in Barstool Sports, but his appearance had not even officially started and he had a few elaborate, pinch-me moments.

Franke was recognized both at the airport in Paris – by someone from New York, who visited her friend in France – as well as on the streets of London when he came out of a taxi.

“I was amazed,” says Franke with a little laugh. “People know who I am.”

It wouldn't be the last time.

After almost a decade as a PGA of America Golf Professional, Franke worked with headlines at the end of last year The announcement that he would be the new Head Golf Professional for the Front golf podcastPopular golf platform from Barstool Sports. Franke received an email from Barstool's founder and current CEO Dave Portnoy, shortly after Thanksgiving-“I originally thought that it was a fake email” -The-der said that there were some members of his team that had discovered Franke's social media page and liked what she saw.

“He and I also see content and media tip ideas, content that is easy to consume instead of a 30-minute show etc. It was easy if I wanted to do it full-time or part-time,” explains Franke. “As a PGA member, you can't really do something like this part -time and work in a golf course. Too much time is simply consumed. So I made the decision to go full -time. “

Franke says his Personal Instagram page went from around 1,200 followers to 30,000 followers in less than a month. PGA.com won Franke – known – as a “barstool beef” – when he was in Arizona, where he and the other personalities of the barstool golf personality photographed the WM Phoenix Open content. Franke says PGA Tour player asked him for pictures. He shook his hand (after he had removed his hat) and gave momentum and mini lessons in the goods tent.

People out there were like a moth to a flame.

“I'm just a golf professional teacher. It was pretty crazy, ”he adds.

Franke, whose brother Craig is also a PGA professional who works in the Monroe Golf Club in Wisconsin, worked in Desert Willow Golf Resort for six years. Born in Chicago, he was hired in February 2023 in Thornberry Creek in Oneida in Green Bay, his last appearance before Barstool. Franke grew up with a golf and started about three years old with his brother. He played several sports that grew up, but in the state of Illinois, High School Golf is played at the same time as football – so he had to make a choice.

Franke (top left) has always tried to facilitate golf for players of all ages.

“Golf has always been at home for me. . . It is something I can do. When you go to the golf course, it doesn't really feel like working on a place where I am really happy to be there. I'm at home, ”says Franke. “It was always for me.”

Franke began about half a decade ago, content for social media with the aim of combining with guests and players in Desert Willow. Many golfers would come from Portland, Seattle or even Canada to the California Club. His videos allowed the course to stay on the radar of all of these people.

“We could get your feedback, get into your algorithm and stay connected to you […] It helped even more than Covid continued. It was the only connection that they had to what they loved the most when they couldn't travel, ”says Franke. “You only want to be able to connect with the people who see you most frequently and hopefully give content that you enjoy.”

The swing tips were only attracted to more attention on social media in Thornberry Creek and regularly collected hundreds of thousands of views. Obviously, his content was enjoyed by enough golfers that one of the largest media brands in North America noticed.

With barstool, three output columns will be in the future, he explains.

Franke will be on Tuesday videos (something he made before), Friday Fix videos (fans can submit videos and Franke will make a comments) and swings out of the chair (where Franke comments and help to analyze the turns of other barstairs). His PGA Pro experience and knowledge will also be an integral part of two ongoing barstool golf video series-“Jersey Jerry” and his search for 100, and Trent Ryan's striving to break 85. Franke calls this kind of videos “Fantastic Connectors” between talent and barstools massive and constantly growing audience.

While Franke has the most unique PGA of America Golf Professional Gigs, it was a bit like child's play to join Barstool. He still has the opportunity to be in the golf course and with the large platform granted to him by Barstool, he can refer to even more core golfers. Franke points out how Tiger Woods only meets about 88 percent of his Greens from a distance of 100 meters. The best player in the world, he says, is only 4 against 5. The expectations of so many are too high. His ultimate goal is to be easier and more fun for everyone.

Franke joined the World Cup Phoenix Open with the employees Frankie Borelli, Sam, the fun "Rigging" Bozoian, Trent Ryan and Golf Personality Matt Ginella.

There is no better example of this than his Instagram slogan: “Common instructor for the shared golfer”.

“Too many golfers have too many vibrating thoughts that only undermine the golf game. Where we only have to concentrate on one or two goals instead and make it easiest in this way, ”says Franke. “If we can connect things that average people know with their golf play, they will make it much easier.”

“Golf has always been at home for me … it is something I can do. If you go to the golf course, it doesn't really feel like working at a place where I am really happy to be there.”
