Liverpool 1, Newcastle 2 – Match Recap: Reds well beaten

Red: Chiesa 90+4 '
Blood money FC: Burn 45 ', Isak 52'

Before the game

Caoimhin Kelleher returns between the sticks, perhaps for health reasons, perhaps for reasons of punishment, as six shooting penalty for the Reds, Alisson only one, while Jarell Quansah Trent Alexander-Arnold replaces Alexander-Arnold in the right-back. Otherwise it is XI as usual from Arne slot

First half

Early in Newcastle players, the cheapest free kicks that you can buy can be found early in Newcastle players.

Newcastle, who exerts early pressure as a Liverpool, seems to be largely satisfied with falling for a long time and losing property.

The Reds waste a decent opportunity with one of the worse deliveries that they will see this season. Not very encouraging from Liverpool in the opening verse here.

Opening 15 minutes looked largely better when they press the opponent in the attacking half instead of producing the deep possession. Drug shots were both made from Newcastle, neither worth it, as an opportunity to be called.

Alexis Mac Allister is punished to stamp Joelinton in the middle of the park, and may be lucky enough to avoid booking.

Persistent magic sayings from Liverpool possession, but the red have difficulty working out shooting opportunities.

Jarell Quansah makes a matip-like run, but since everyone else stands still, Newcastle defenders are soon raved about. Quansah then coughs the possession in his own half, but a last ditch by Ibrahima Konaté prevent the danger from escalating.

Luis Diaz is almost in it, but Nick Pope comes out of his area to intervene, and nothing comes from it. The flag rises anyway.

The disgusting challenge of Kieran Trippier's elbow-first challenge on a jumping diaz leads to a free kick and a conversation with that when a yellow card would have been the obvious result.

Harvey Barnes goes for Quansah on the flank and swings a cross, but Trippier's finish from an angle is blocked by Andy Robertson. The following corner ends up on Dan Burn's head on the back post for the second time this evening, but Kelleher collects the effort.

Trippier processes the ball in the box, but he is gained away, checked and cleared.

Goal. For the third time today, Alexis Mac Allister, duking in a Newcastle corner, will find the lower corner at the back, and this time the lower corner.

Mohamed Salah finds Diaz in the box that leads it back to Jota, but the striker hangs his half polley effort terribly far.

Half -time

Despite a late chance, Liverpool Trail is right. Newcastle made nine shots and won six corners to Liverpools one and one. Big adjustments that are necessary in both strategy and use if the red gives themselves a chance at their first trophy of the season.

Second half

No changes for both sides.

Signs of life from the red when Virgil rises forward and takes out JOTA, but the cross is cut out by Joelinton.

Isak has the ball after another corner in the rear part of the network, but it is excluded for one offside on Guimaraes, which was scary.

Goal. Isak beats it home after Robertson has lost a header at the rear post. 2-0 Newcastle, hardly participated with Liverpool.

Curtis Jones and Darwin Núñez come in the 57th minute for Ibrahima Konaté and Diogo Jota. Gravenberch to the central defender.

Curtis Jones puts on a wonderful upswing from 12 meters, but Nick Pope makes an excellent one -handed one.

Liverpool is now pushing and wins another corner, but cannot capitalize.

Huge opportunity for Isak, which gets a volley attempt from the point-blank range, but the pass is behind him and Kelleher can keep the effort away.

Newcastle players now fall like flying. Two go down at the same time, which means that after receiving the treatment you do not have to get out of the field. A gap that no one could have made. The waste of time has started.

Gakpo comes for Mac Allister.

The red have not created anything since Jones 20 minutes ago.

Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa Ryan Gravenberch and Luis Diaz replace in 20 minutes.

Harvey Elliott sits in his place and is now picking into the box. He finds Jones, but the shot is wild and out of the finish.

Nothing happens. Newcastle simply leans back and Liverpool looks nothing like she was disassembled.

GOAL!!! Liverpool has a back when Harvey Elliott picks up a second ball in midfield and beats it through for Federico Chiesa, which converts one to one with Nick Pope.

Liverpool cannot hold the ball.

Full time: Liverpool loses 2-1.

Last thoughts

Despite a late flash, it is another terrible performance, and the red loses deserve their first and only cup final of the season. Everything that remains now is to avoid a total breakdown and collect the Premier League title that you have put yourself in such a dominant position to win.
