Lobbies of the restoration organization in the State House for Black Ballon Day

Augusta, Maine (Wabi) – March 6th is Black Ballon Day.

The black balloon day is recognized across the country and remembers life that has been lost by an overdose.

In the State House on Tuesday, the Maine Recovery Action Project (ME-RAP) praised the legislators for upcoming legislation, which are aimed at recovery efforts.

A legislation would increase the reimbursement rates of Mainecare for organizations that provide decided detoxification for those.

When it comes to preventing deaths from overdosing and fighting Maine's opioid crisis, the invoices exceed politics to provide urgently needed resources for public health.

“We are here for a simple reason, and that is that we want to save people's lives,” says Joseph Hartel, organizer for me. “We have a massive problem with opioid dependency in the state of Maine. People die and we would like to be able to help these people get involved in recovery, to recover, regardless of where they are in the continuum of care. “

There is a public hearing for the legislative template to increase the reimbursement rates planned for Monday.

Me-rap encourages everyone who has a connection to addiction or detoxification services to take part and hear their voice.
