Lopes head to Cal Poly for Night Match

The 14th volleyball team of the 14th Grand Canyon Beach is on Saturday and Sunday to take part in four dual games in San Luis Obispo for the Mustang Classic.

On Saturday the Lopes will compete against Houston Christian against Houston Christian at 2 p.m. against Santa Clara at 2 p.m. This will mark the first street match in Cal Poly since 2021, where the Lopes lost a 3-2.

Scouting Santa Clara

• The Broncos played only one ranked team in front of the Lopes, a 5-0 defeat against Stanford on March 1st.
• The GCU is 4-0 against Santa Clara from 2017.

Scouting Cal Poly

• The Mustangs are 6-2 with losses against UCLA and LMU.
• Although GCU has won two of the last three, the GCU Cal Poly All-Time is 6-3.

Scouting Houston Christian

• Houston Christian is currently 5-5.
• The Lopes are 2-0 against HCU, with the only two games taking place in 2018 and 2020.

Scouting Washington

• The huskies are 7-6 after they were exposed to seven opponents with the opponents in the year.
• UW is 2-3 against the GCU from 2016.

After the four games in San Louis Obispo, California, GCU will drive to East meets West in Austin, Texas from March 21 to 22.
