Lubbock Sleep Doctor gives tips for the upcoming change in daylight savings

Lubbock, Texas (KCBD) – Although the watch only changes twice a year, the hour change in daylight saving time can affect your physical and mental health.

Doctor Christopher Rose, director of the Covenant Sleep Center, says most people in the United States are not priority.

“The funny thing is that the Americans do not appreciate their sleep like other countries,” said Rose. “So we tend to withdraw sleep again, the seven hours of sleep again when most people need eight who are already an hour of sleep.”

While one night less sleep does not necessarily hurt, Rose can say that they cannot influence the right amount of sleep in several ways.

“We will see in the next few days that we will see an increase in heart attacks, the increase in strokes, people with depression and anxiety may have deteriorated depression or fear, people with slight cognitive dysfunctions may have more memory loss or more problems that concentrate on things during the day,” said Rose. “So many health problems are associated with this one hour of sleep.”

In sleeping, your body will work to support a healthy brain function and your physical health.

“So if you escape sleep, you don't get this restorative sleep,” said Rose. “Many of these things have to do with the healing of the body, be it healing wounds or blood pressure, helps with other chronic diseases such as heart diseases, lung diseases, so that they know chemicals in the brain that can worsen their depression or who can worry about their fears or are reset at night.”

Rose encourages everyone to adapt their sleeping plan now.

“So if people have started to adapt their attachment for 10 to 15 minutes today, as if they normally go to bed at 10 a.m., they have their schedule for 15 minutes and then the next day another 15 and another the next day to adapt to it,” said Rose. “It would help to minimize the effects of this arrival.”

Further tips for better sleep are the going outside and the sunlight in the morning to maintain a consistent sleep routine and restrict the caffeine intake at night.
