Luke Fickell breaks the silence while football burns down in Wisconsin

Luke Fickell is addressing the state of Wisconsin football as the program is on the brink of disaster.

Fickell was hired away from Cincy to take over the Badgers following Paul Chryst being fired. The belief was that he could inject new life into a Big Ten powerhouse that had lost its edge in the final Chryst years.

Fans were desperate to return to consistent 10+ win seasons and big bowl games. That hasn’t come close to happening.

It’s been a disaster through two seasons. Fickell is 13-13 during his time in Madison, and the Badgers went 5-7 last season. The program’s 22-year bowl streak was snapped, and fans have had enough.

Luke Fickell appeals to the state of Wisconsin Football.

To the surprise of many fans, Fickell recently received an extension of the contract that will hold him with the team until the 2031 season. Apparently losing is now being rewarded in Madison. It is a sad sign of the time.

The head coach of the Badgers may currently have some jobs, but that does not mean that the program does not implode. What does Fickell have to say? It sounds like he thinks some boys might not have lost much. That is a big problem.

The head coach of Wisconsin told Badgerextra below about the status of the program:

“If you lose, you either cancel you to make excuses, you start to do with your fingers. There are many things that fall in the loses. And then there are times when you don't win. Unfortunately on At the end of the year we have lost a lot of growth. honestly Its program and our way to use the stuff to grow. Between loss and not we have to recognize what that is.

It is almost difficult to know what to do with Fickell's comments. They come a little sad and desperate. If people in the building do not treat the situation seriously enough … then this is a problem with the head coach!

He is paid millions of dollars to lead young men. He is the face of one of the richest programs in America. It is the task of the head coach to illuminate a fire under boys.

If you don't lose yourself, let your locker clean and get hell out. It's so easy. Do you think Herb Brooks or Nick Saban have tolerated that?

Hell no.

The reality of the situation is that grace for Luke Fickell is over. It's done. The fans suffered the disappointing season after declining the disappointing season when Chryst ran the show in 2020. Something has to change and it has to change quickly. Wisconsin fans are not delusional, but they will never tolerate the seasons. Fickell finds it better or he will see how the entire state turns against him. I can guarantee that much. Let me know what you think David.hookstead@outkick.com.
