MacBook Air M4-Benchmark-Leak-leak fever with near MacBook Proter performance what we know

Update: A new MacBook Air M4 benchmark has appeared on Geekbench and shows new results. We updated this article to reflect the differences.

Waiting for Apple's MacBook Air M4? With his arrival, which is only a few weeks away, it may not be much longer. And the waiting should already pay off because a new benchmark leak shows its excellent GPU performance gains.

An M4-MacBook Air was discovered on Geekbench (via Wccftech), which shows a metal evaluation of 54,806. GEEKBENCH Metal measures the GPU performance in Macs and already outshines the MacBook Air M3 and achieves a metal value of 41,045 on Geekbench.

Another geekbench score of the same unit has recently appeared, and now it shows even higher numbers. The same model (Mac16,12) now has a metal value of 55,516. This brings it even closer to the MacBook Pro M4 and corresponds to the number of points of the iPad Pro M4 on Geekbench (approx. 55,000).

The results can vary every time a benchmark is completed. Therefore, it is not surprising to see and update, and updated points offer different numbers. However, it is interesting to see how this MacBook Air M4 model increases around this amount, and it shows further performance increases compared to the previous M3 chip.

With this update, there is now only less than a difference of 5% of the M4 MacBook Pro, since the M4 equipment model achieved a 57,603 metal score.

In view of the price difference between the MacBook Air (from £ 1,099 / 1,099) and Pro (from $ 1,599 £ 1,599), this gap in the GPU performance is good news for those who are for the laptop of Apple for most decide. It is worth noting that both units use the same chip in this benchmark, but the MacBook Pro model is expected to be under pressure better because it has a fan while the air is equipped with its signature fan design.

With the nickname “Mac16.12”, the model used in the benchmark is equipped with four performance core and six efficiency cores, similar to the M4 chip. Apple's latest Silicon offers a 10-core GPU with dynamic caching, hardware acceleration tracking and network shade. As we saw in our MacBook Pro M4 review, it still doesn't offer the best game performance, but it is an exciting step of previous models.

This model also has 24 GB unified memory, which is at the more expensive end of the MacBook air configurations (from $ 1,299 / £ 1,299). This probably played a role in increasing the GPU performance, but not an absurd amount. In addition, it is still more affordable than a MacBook Pro. Overall, it is a good sign that the MacBook Air M4 shines after arriving.

Although there is still no official start date, rumors are pointed out that we will soon see a new MacBook Air with M4 providers, possibly as soon as March, since MacBook Air Stock disappears into the Apple retail shops, as Bloomberg's Mark Gurman suggests.

The MacBook Air M4 is expected to be 13 inches and 15-inch models in Familair, which has an identical design for the Air M3 siblings. The only real difference is expected to be in its internal, whereby the M4 chip can be achieved with a 10-core CPU, a 10-core GPU and a neural engine with 38 tops (trillion operations per second). This last specification is set in such a way that Apple intelligence deals better.

We are already big fans of the M4 chip, with the iPad Pro M4 also showing its performance. Will it be a worthwhile upgrade for those who already have a MacBook Air M3 (our current top selection as the best laptop in total)? We will get a better idea as soon as it arrives, but it wants to impress.
