Madison (WKOW)-A Madison man stands for the death of his 19-year-old friend before prison.

The 23 -year -old Isaiah Miller was sentenced to five years in prison and five years of long supervision for the death of Marshall 'Levi' Iverson.

Miller is convicted of murder for negligent use of a dangerous weapon. He admitted to shot on an AR-15 rifle unintentionally and hit Levi in ​​his head. The shootout occurred on May 15, 2022 in a blue hill at home.

Levi's mother, father and sister gave long, emotional statements in court on Thursday and spoke about her favorite memories of him, his love for music and animals and about the heartache they have endured since his death.

“I couldn't process it, I couldn't breathe,” said Shelley Iverson. “I just thought again and again, no, no, no, that's not real, awake, please wake up. 'But it was real and my whole world collapsed right there.”

Levi's sister Melissa Beck is committed to “Levi's Law”, a proposed state initiative to increase the minimum age that is required for the purchase of semi-automatic riles from 18 to 21 years.

Miller's father gave a brief explanation in his name and asked for the forgiveness of the Iversons.

Miller himself spoke and said he wished he had just listened to his father.

“I would like to apologize to Levi, everyone else I did wrong for my past and bad decisions,” said Miller. “I would like to apologize to my family that I don't always have the opportunity and was always present, and mostly I would like to excuse myself with Levi's friends and my family for my decisions that night and for the loss of your friend and son, and I'm really sorry for what happened.”

Isaiah Miller's defense said that he should not experience the day of the shootout for his whole life.
