Man accused of shot in Mississippi two in Fort Myers on Saturday

Fort Myers, Florida – A shootout in an apartment complex compared to Cypress Lake Middle School sent two people to the hospital on Saturday evening.

Man accused of shot in Mississippi two in Fort Myers on Saturday

Lee County's office confirmed that the alleged shooter, who was identified as a 35-year-old Roger de Le Cruz, was arrested in Mississippi on Monday morning.

The deputies reacted to the Cypress West Apartments in the 6000 block of the Panther Lane, shortly after 11 p.m. on Saturday, after reports on shots. Two people were found at the crime scene with several gunshot wounds and taken to the hospital. According to the authorities, both victims are currently in a stable state.

The neighbors described a chaotic scene that developed late at night.

Michael Atkinson lives right next door and described the moment when he realized what happened.

“My daughter's mother told me: 'Hey, make for our daughter.' I did that, I came back and at that time the police came here, ”said Atkinson. “It was a total confirmation – like, okay, yes, that was shot. Someone literally opened the fire here in Cypress West. That doesn't happen.”

Another neighbor who asked to stay anonymously

“I'm afraid for the will of the mother because she has a little seven too eight years old,” said the neighbor. “I am only so enthusiastic to hear that you have caught the guy and that he is being held accountable for what he did.”

A family member of one of the victims confirmed Fox 4 that she recovered in the hospital and “goes better”. The family is relieved that the shooter was arrested.

The neighbor from the next door expressed hope for the recovery of the victims.

“I just hope that she has a quick healing – both women – and that the boy will get his mother, his mother soon,” said the neighbor.

Lee County's office confirmed the suspect as a 35-year-old Roger de Le Cruz, who fled to Mississippi after the shootout. He was arrested on Monday morning by MPs from the Sheriff of Harrison County near Gulfport, Mississippi. De Le Cruz is now exposed to two attempts at the second degree, and the authorities say that he also has an ice cream.

Sheriff Marceno praised the cooperation between the law enforcement agencies when taking De Le Cruz and explained: “My team works with our public prosecutor's office and Harrison County's office to bring Roger de Le Cruz back to Lee County, where he will face the consequences of his happy crime.”

Detective confirmed that this shootout was isolated and the public or the nearby Cypress Lake Middle School does not give a continued threat.
