Man dies after crash in Carroll County, police investigation

A man is dead after an accident with two vehicles that is still being examined, said Maryland State Police.

The police said that a Volkswagen, who was powered by Lydia Hansen, 30, from Baltimore, had traveled south on Route 97 when she collided head-on with a Chevrolet truck for unknown reasons.

This truck was driven by 78-year-old Richard Snyder from Westminster. He was taken to the Carroll Hospital by ambulance, where he was later declared dead.

Hansen was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center to treat her injuries.

Route 97 was closed for more than two hours for the crash examination.

Officials say that the Maryland State Police crash team leads the investigation and as soon as it has been completed, they will submit their results to the public prosecutor's office of the Carroll County, which decide whether the charges are submitted.
