Man makes fish drink beer sparks outraged

A viral Instagram video that shows a Rohu fish that is forced to drink beer has triggered outrage over the Internet. So far, however, no real measures have been taken against the responsible man.

The video shows how the man seized the fish and tips a beer bottle towards the mouth so that it looks as if the fish consumes alcohol. While some spectators found it amusing, many others condemned it as cruelty to animals.

Social media quickly broke out with criticism, whereby users marked PETA and marked an intervention in demand. Despite the turmoil, there were no legal steps.

This raises a disturbing question: Why is animal abuse often released when it comes to fish or aquatic animals? If this had been a cat or a dog, the authorities and animal rights groups would have acted immediately.

Alcohol affects negative fish, which leads to disorientation and potential toxicity. The act of force a living beings to take beer for entertainment is not only unethical, but also completely cruel.

In this case, the person behind it continues to roam, similar to other cases, in which animal abuse remains unpunished.

Such selective outrage reserved for dogs, cats and cattle, and the lax enforcement of laws of cruelty to animals lead to many such cases. The public reaction is often quick on social media, but such actions are continued without real consequences and interventions. If the authorities do not take any measures, it sends a dangerous message that is harmful to animals for “fun”.
