Man was guilty

Cobb County, Ga.-a jury found a 32-year-old man guilty of putting a house fire that his girlfriend's mother and grandmother killed.

The Cobb County public prosecutor called it a “tragic memory” of domestic violence and its consequences.

Michele Lacroix and Andrea Nall died in March 2023 after the police said Robert Smith set fire to their house. The public prosecutor said Smith was with Nall's daughter Carolyn Parmalee at the time of her death.

On February 26, a jury of Cobb County Smith condemned the first degree and severe battery and severe attack for two cases of crime and arson because he had beaten his girlfriend.

He was sentenced to two lifelong prison terms and 20 years in prison.

“This case is a tragic memory of how domestic violence can escalate to devastating consequences,” said the district lawyer of Cobb, Sonya F. Allen, in an explanation. “Thanks to the hard work of our prosecutors and law enforcement agencies, the judiciary was served, and this accused will never harm another person again.”

The office who said Parlaee levied charges against him after being admitted to the hospital. She received an unable to arrange, but Smith saw it on, according to the prosecutors.

When Parmalee was admitted to the hospital a year later and on February 26, 2023 a third time, Nall tried to have Smith's bond revoked due to violation of the no-in-interior order.

About two weeks later, on March 12, 2023, Smith went to Parmalee's house with spray paint. The office that said that he used it as a fuel to set fire to a car in her carport, which then spread to the house.

Nall and Lacroix were both in the house, together with eight pets, all of whom died of smoke inhalation, said officials.

“This community was robbed by two astonishing women who opened their house as a refuge,” said the senior deputy administrative prosecutor Jared Horowitz, who pursued the case together with senior assistant lawyer Stephanie Green. “These two mothers did what every parent would – protect his children from a perpetrator.
