Man who died after crime in Lorain had a long criminal background

Lorain, Ohio (Woio) – A Lorain -man is dead after taking a stroll through violence in several petrol stations in the city, but although the man has lost his life that night, his victims experience the traumatizing night to this day. 19 investigators Kelly Kennedy spoke to some of his victims and dug in his violent criminal background.

“I was like killing me,” said Carjacking victim Dina Poltron. “He wants my car. I thought he was sure that he took me out. “

Poltrons will be haunted by the memories of that night forever.

“I would just close my eyes and I would just imagine everything,” admitted Poltron.

But on February 12, the Lorain mother was only one of 41-year-old Henry Cobbs.

“It's something I will never forget,” she said. “You will always be nervous, always be restless and always look over your shoulder.”

First he met the Valero petrol station in the Oberlin Avenue.

A woman told the police to pump petrol when a man approached her. The police believe that the man was Cobb. He tried to force himself into her car, but her 12-year-old daughter was inside. The mother started fighting and screaming with Cobb. When some people started approaching their cars, Cobb said.

Unfortunately, she was next for Poltrons. She was at the Raceway petrol station when Cobb went to her car and said she had a flat tire.

“I'm fine, thank you; I will check it later, ā€¯recalled Poltron. “I was about to go because I just started getting this really scary feeling.”

Next, she knew that Cobb knocked on her window. It smashed in seconds. Without thinking, she ran her keys in the petrol station in her hand.

“He was right behind me, pulled me down on my ponytail and told me again kept giving me the fing key, I'll put you on you,” said Poltrone. “I remember that I started it to get them away from me.”

Cobb then robbed a 711 on Leavitt Road. The employee said he threatened her with a weapon and stolen the entire cash register. He started in Poltrone's stolen SUV.

According to Lorain Police, Cobb put down the champions Road, who collapsed in two cars and injured several innocent people.

Poltrones SUV opened in flames where Cobb was caught inside. He died at the scene.

One of the victims of the crash was a student whose family says he was in the intensive care unit.

“My heart breaks,” said the mother. “For the longest time I was how I could have done differently? Maybe when I followed my keys? But he was firmly convinced that I would get a car. “

The single mother has been fighting lost since her only car. She was surprised on Tuesday when the owner of Red Sugar Ridge in Elyria offered to give her a used car for free.

“It helps me to have a little more hope in humanity because it is really difficult to trust people and see the good in people now,” said Poltron.

19 Investigates discovered that Cobb has a lengthy crime history that included robberies in Lorain in 2016 and Florida in 2018.

He was released from the Florida prison in August 2024.
