Man who was charged with house arrest for murder of Deputy

Harris County, Texas (KTRK) – A man who is accused of having killed the deputy of a sheriff of Harris County was released in Bond and criticized both law enforcement organizations and the family of the deputy.

The deputy Fernando Esqueda was shot in the northeast of Harris County in July. Two men are charged with his death. One of them, Dremone Francis, was released from prison on Wednesday after publishing Bond.

“It's unfair,” a family member told Eyewitness News. “A bad decision by the judge.”

The 27 -year -old Francis is charged with capital murder of a police officer. Judge Hilary Unger from the 248th district court granted Francis a bond of $ 1 million in November, including $ 500,000 for capital murder and $ 500,000. Francis published a bond this week and was published.

The President of the two largest law enforcement organizations from the Houston region expressed their anger.

“This decision is not only a slap in the family of the deputy Esqueda, but also undermines the security of the community and law enforcement officers who risk their lives every day,” said Jose Lopez, President of the MPs of Harris County, FOP 39.

“I have never seen someone in a capital murder of a law enforcement officer released in bond,” said Doug Griffith, President of the Houston Police Officers' Union. “It is ridiculous. Judge Unger should be ashamed.”

The capital murder is the only crime in Texas for which a judge has the discretion of refusing the bond. For accused who are accused of having murdered police officers, this is practically a matter of course. ABC13 could not find any other instance in Harris County in which a suspect of the same indictment had been granted a bond.

Griffith expressed concerns about the risks of Francis that Francis did not appear in court.

“What happens if this type does not come back to court? This is a capital murder case. It is the worst worst. If he doesn't show up, the officials have to go back. What will happen? Will he shoot these officers?”

Francis was accommodated under house arrest and has to wear a GPS monitor as part of his binding conditions. The Court of Richter Unger rejected a statement and only referred to official fall supplies.

Francis and co -accused Ronald Palmer are accused of having fired dozens of rounds to the deputy Esqueda, while he was presumably on the Italian Cypress Trail in his truck near Palmers. Palmer was looking for a small Caesars employee for pistol wiping. So far, his bond has been rejected, but his hearing is planned for Thursday morning.

“We are very concerned about the fact that tomorrow we may have a similar result as what we had today,” said Lopez. “I want to be very clear. The decisions that influence these judges and influence people.”

Francis' lawyer did not answer a request for comments.
