Man who was killed in the house fire near Waunakee

Town of Springfield, Wisconsin (WMTV) – The office of the Dane County's medical examiner published the name of a man who was killed in a home fire near Waunake last week.

Steven L. Theis was declared dead at the crime scene.

Officials said that preliminary results of the exam show that the Waunakee man died of injuries that he had suffered in the house fire.

At this point, further tests are underway.

The Dane County's office said that his MPs and Waunakee once went into the house on Wednesday at 10:15 p.m. after a person had passed the fire in the 6300 block of the Meffert Road. Ten additional fire brigade agencies reacted to fight the fire as well as the MG&E and the Salvation Army.

Dane Co. civil servants found that a deceased person after several hours of searching the following day was left of the house.

The cause of the fire is not known.

Dane County Sheriff's Office and the office of the medical examiner in Dane County continue to examine.
