Man who was saved from house fire in Stonington

Stonington, Ct. (Wfsb) – A man had to be saved from a house fire in Stonington on Thursday evening.

Officials say that the fire started in the area of ​​Hatch Street shortly before 5:30 p.m. The smell of Rauch was still strong a few hours later.

Chris Clarkin, fire chief of Mystic, said when the crews arrived, was a man in the house and tried to bring out the flames.

Fortunately, he made it out and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Clarkin added that parts of the house had collapsed, which led to help from several other departments in the region. He says that it is unclear what the fire caused, but the conditions were rough inside.

“The second and third floor collapsed to the first floor and there was hydrhemons,” he said.

A neighboring home was abandoned, so that no other evacuations were required.
