Matchday: Preds at Islander, March 1st

After completing a home state of four games, the Nashville Predators start the month of March in the UBS Arena against the New York Islanders for a CT-Puck drop at 11:30 a.m. Today's competition is the first of two meetings between the clubs this season. The Preds will align the islands in April.

On Thursday evening in Nashville, the Preds welcomed the NHL leading Winnipeg jets and achieved an impressive 2-1 victory. Despite their place in the overall ranking, the predators remain determined to work on their game when the last full month of the season begins, and they are carefully considered to do this on a consecutive set in New York that begins today in Long Island.

“That's how it has to be,” said Preds Forward Gustav Nyquist after the victory on Thursday. “We have a few people out … But we have great opportunities for other people who come. And we know the position in which we are in ourselves, but at the same time we have to have proud and end the season strongly.”

Preds Captain Roman Josi did not dress on Thursday and is an injury to the upper body every day at the time of the last update. With Josi, Steven Stamkos was missing as an alternative captain with the third 'A' to join Filip Forsberg and Ryan O'reilly in the role.

Before the game on Thursday, the Predators remembered defender Marc del Gaizo from Milwaukee and newly assigned defender Jake Livingstone. Del Gaizo played with the Preds in his first game since December.
