MBTA published schedule for the New South Coast Rail Service

Expansion to New Bedford, Fall River, will organize free parking spaces, free weekend trips in the first few weeks

Boston – The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority published the first schedule for the South Coast Rail Service in New Bedford and River, Massachusetts, which is due to begin on March 24th. The debut of the new company will contain free weekend trips and free parking spaces by the end of April, the MBTA said last week.

The MBTA announced a start date for the service last month [see “MBTA announces March 24 date …,” Trains News Wire, Feb. 7, 2025]. The start date for the service that extends the current management of Middleborough/Lakeville is finally subject to the Federal Railroad Administration.

The schedule for weekdays requires 29 inbound trains – 14 from New Bedford and 15 from Fall River; Some of the River's trains will be according to East Taunton Shuttles, where the passengers can switch to the trains in New Bedford. A total of 16 trains will drive the full route to the South Station Boston. There will also be 16 outgoing trains from Boston, with 15 trains in New Bedford and 15 after the shuttle service between East Taunton and River 15 case for the River case. The weekend service will organize 13 trains from and to Boston. The full schedule is available here.

The free introductory service is good on Saturdays and Sundays between March 29 and April 27 and on April 21 on the day of the patriots on the day of the patriots. The passengers can drive freely if the start or trip at one of the six New South Coast Bail Stations: Middleborough, East Taunton, FreeTown, Fall River Depot, Church Street or New Bedford end. At these six stations from March 24 to the end of the day on April 30th, free parking spaces will be good at these six stations. Free parking can end early if the properties fill up and rooms are not available. The standard park prices are 4 US dollars on weekdays and 2 US dollars on weekends.
