Meghan Markle shares a video by Princess Lilibet that plays candy country

Think about these early days

In a letter to the then House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi and sen. Chuck Schumer Meghan explained her support for the obligatory paid parental leave in the USA and wrote to be “overjoyed” but to be “overwhelmed” when her daughter was born when pandemic was still prevented in hospitals, schools, etc.

“Like fewer parents, we were not confronted with the hard reality of spending these first critical months with our baby or going back to work,” she wrote. “We knew that we could take them home, and in this vital (and sacred) level we devote everything to our children and our family. We knew that in this way we do not have to make any impossible decisions about childcare, work and medical care that so many have to make every day.”

Meghan continued: “No family should be confronted with these decisions. No family should choose whether they have to choose between livelihood and freedom to take care of her child (or a loved one or themselves, as we would see with a comprehensive paid vacation plan).”
