Miami binds the school record with a 24th defeat at Georgia Tech with 24th defeat

The Miami Hurricanes closed a school record with their 24th season loss after falling at Georgia Tech 89-74 on Tuesday evening.

Matthew Cleveland scored 29 points, while Brandon Johnson added 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Hurricanes, who lost six in a row this season and removed 0-14 from home.

Miami (6-24, 2-17 ACC) bound the Hurricanes from 1991-92, who ended 8-24, and tried to break the record in its season finals on Saturday (12:00 p.m. CW).

The Hurricanes shot 44.3 percent (31 out of 70) out of the ground, 22.7 percent (5 out of 22) of 3.

Georgia Tech (16-14, 10-9) was given 31 points by Lance Terry's 31 points when the yellow jackets shot 54.5 percent (36 out of 66) from the floor and 43.5 percent (10 out of 23) of 3.

The Hurricanes led on a Cleveland layup in early 13-12, but the yellow jackets pulled back in the first half and took 46-30 into the break.

The yellow jackets remained in double digits in the second half and built a lead of 26 points at one point.
