Miami Football Seniors present talents at Miami Pro Day

Thirteen players from the Miami University player at the Miami University played on March 3 on the Pro -Day of Miami for NFL scouts.

The Redhawks ended the 2024 season in Tucson, Arizona, with a win in the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl. Miami ended the season 9: 5, the second year in a row with a winning record.

For many players, Pro Day marked the last time they will play in Oxford.

“You work so hard for this one day,” said Kevin Davis. “It is surreal when you finally go into it. But my biggest thing is only grateful for the moment. This is the last time I will play [this] Group of people I've played with in recent years. “

Quarterback Brett Gabbert repeated Davis' point. In his six years at Red and White, Gabbert brought Team Two Mid-American Conference (Mac) championship title and two victories of the Bowl game.

When the sun goes down his college career, Gabbert thought about his time with the Redhawks and what he is looking for when he takes the next step.

“Obviously I had some setbacks throughout my career,” said Gabbert. “Being able to play for a whole year was everything I worked for my leg. [We] Had a good year and [I] In the end I decided on the professional day. Today everything went pretty well, so I'm pretty happy about it. “

The players started the morning in the weight room. The offensive Lineman Reid Holskey led the Redhawks with 31 repetitions of banking, which would have been bound in third place under all positions at the NFL combine.

The broad recipient Cade McDonald also exceeded 22 repetitions. Only one recipient, Jaylin Noel from Iowa State University, had more repetitions with the combine harvester for recipients (23).

The Redhawks moved to the jumps. Davis and Running Keyon Mozee, the duo, which combined in 2024 for 1,429 rushing yards and eight lavish touchdowns, led the squad with a broad jump of 10,5 or 10'6, which would have brought both players to the top 10 under running backs.

The team left the weight room and went onto the inner field in the Dauch Indoor Sports Center for the 40-Yard fittings board, the 20-yard shuttle and the three bowling drills.

Davis showed his speed with its 4.41 second 40-yard fittings board and 4.2 seconds 20 yard shuttle, which would have bound it for the fifth and took him under the running backs for these respective tests at the combine harvester.

“My speed is obviously the name of my game, so I'm glad that I have to present it a lot,” said Davis. “The same applies to my explosiveness, from wide and vertical to my strength. I have reached some pretty good numbers today and I'm really satisfied with it. “

Mozee and McDonald followed closely with 40 yard dash times of 4.52 and 4.55 seconds.

After these tests, the players have completed further field tests with their position. Gabbert made snapshots from his older brother

“I had to go through the process, I had to find a quarterback trainer, and I didn't really know which direction I wanted to go,” said Gabbert. “I said, 'My brother played in the NFL for 13 years … I think he knows what he is talking about.'”

The Pro day is just the first step towards a professional football career. However, head coach Chuck Martin was proud of how his players performed and said that each of the athletes has a real chance of playing in the NFL.

“Each of them is a legitimate view,” said Martin. “Today there was no one here who was not impressive for the NFL scouts or not at least some of the qualities they are looking for.”

With the draft only in one month (April 24), the Redhawks must continue to work with personal trainers and anticipate all invitations to train with NFL teams.
