Michigan celebrates Senior Day in the loss of Alabama

The fans of the crisler center filled with corn gathered on Saturday afternoon to celebrate the senior day of the Michigan Women's Gymnastics team. After the defeat against Oklahoma last week, the Wolverines hoped for the matchup this week.

As No. 17 Michigan (10-6) against No. 12 Alabama (6-9) against No. 12 against 197.050-196,675.

In the first rotation, the Wolverines became uneven rods on the vault and the purple tide. While Michigans were well executed, not a single gymnast was the landing, which led to various sub -destinations, which laid an event of 49,000 for the Wolverines. In the meantime, Alabama carried out strong, smooth routines on rods, consistently stuck every landing and achieved an event evaluation of 49,250, causing the purple flood to enter the second rotation in front of Michigan.

Despite this setback, the Wolverines still had to celebrate moments. Senior Jacey Vorore took part as an exhibition gymnast and took part in a Yurchenko full performance, a great performance if in this event for most of her career, considering your mental block, you were considering your mental block.

“I am so proud that she can overcome this and make this vault,” said Michigan coach Bev Plocki.

Rotation Two began strong for the Wolverines with a powerful routine of newcomer Sophie Parenti in uneven bars. She stuck her landing and achieved a score of 9,850, which marked a new career.

“I mean, I only see what I always do in practice and what I have built in competitions,” said Parenti.

Parentis's performance gave the tone for her teammates like previous and newcomer Sophia Diaz, who achieved a 9,850 or 9,875. However, striping the landings was still a challenge for Michigan, which led to minor scales that were not decisive on Alabama's top -class vaulted outins. The Crimson Tide, which put space in the country in the country in the country in the country, achieved an event evaluation of 49.275 compared to 49.175 by Michigan, which increased the score.

The third rotation offered the Wolverine hope that started on the balancing beam when Alabama took the ground. A number of consistent routines and fixed landings led to an event evaluation of 49.225 for Michigan. Although the Crimson Tide had strong floor routines, breakdowns, such as a low score of 9.575, brought their event to a 49.150 point, which gave the Wolverines the opportunity to close the gap when they were again led by Parenti during their final redation.

“We just wanted to end well,” said Parenti. “I just took this energy and tried to have fun.”

And have fun by carrying out a high capacity and energy routine to get another new career height of 9.875. She was followed by newcomer Petyon Davis, who best met her career for the fifth time with a score of 9.850. Michigan achieved an event number of 49.275, but it wasn't enough to defeat Alabama's consistent performance and processes. The meeting ended with a defeat for the Wolverines, with the final result 19,050-196,674.

Despite his loss, Michigan still met at the end of the meeting to the seniors Carly Bauman, Asta Ferrell, Reyna Guggino and Jenna Mulligan, who went out with their families to applaud the crowd. The seniors Ashley Lane, Abigail Veides and Jacey Vorore were also celebrated in a touching ceremony with personalized videos with pictures and comments on their gymnastics trips by their loved ones.

But frustration about the loss was available. The Wolverines chalied their lack of points up to a key factor.

“We only had very few routines without trigger landings,” said Plocki. “This will be our important focus for the future.”

Michigan is working on perfecting his processes and hoping to increase its scores, an important improvement before the Big Ten Championship next week, where it hopes to detach itself under the lights of the Crisler Center against high -ranking state Michigan, UCLA and Minnesota.

If the Wolverines can use this potential and continue to fix the mistakes that they cost against Alabama, a big ten championship title can be within reach.
