Missouri firefighters fight exhaustion when the fire risk returns

Near Macks Creek, Mo. (Ky3) – The firefighters of the district of Camden County are preparing again, while Missouri is faced with another round of dangerous fire conditions.

Boss Mike Hufferd from Southwest Camden County Fire said on Friday when firefighters dealt with a spark of scattered flames as firefighters in several rural areas. Some fires even took out devices such as this water hose. According to Hufferd, there were so many fires that his department had to count on others to help.

“We called mutual auxiliary companies from anywhere. We had one who is here west. That saved an entire community pretty much. “

He says that exhausted firefighters are taking a further round of dangerous conditions after the fight against several fires across the state. Fire officers say that strong winds and dry air are experiencing more than 20 fires near the Mark Twain National Forest, including an almost 200 hectare forest fire in Barry County.

“We started to have Rekindles again,” said Chief Hufferd.

Chief Hufferd says that the crews have worked continuously, and with an existing warning of the red flag, the risk has not subsided.

“You have to understand that we are just a dozen people in this department and we cover 152 square kilometers,” said Chief Hufferd.
