A man is in custody after a drive-by shooting in a residential area in Monroe, Michigan, the local police reported.

The incident began with a disturbance that is located on Sunday at 10:48 p.m. along the 800 block of the Harrison Street, which is located on the south side of the city, according to a report by the Monroe Police Department.

Monroe County Central Dispatch informed the officials that several vehicles arrived in this area and a pistol was observed.

“When arriving in the area, the officials heard shots from the general area of ​​the disorder. Wacked a vehicle that tried to flee the scene that was quickly stopped by the police,” the report said. “During the traffic stop, none of the occupants provided information or worked together with the investigation. However, it was found that none of the inmates was the shooter and no weapon was found.”

When the police continued to check the neighborhood, the residents and witnesses made statements and cell phone videos of a drive-by shooting.

The police later confirmed that one of the shots had hit a house and hit almost a 16-year-old boy.

Afterwards, a woman reported that her red GMC site had been destroyed. The officials found that their vehicle was used in the drive-by shoot, although someone else was the driver and possibly the shooter.

The police authority of Monroe and the detective of the Sheriff of the Sheriff of Monroe County continued their investigation and identified the shooter as a 33-year-old man from the Monroe region.

The Sheriff's Office Special Response Team together with road officials and detective met in a hotel in the Laplaisance Road near Interstate 75, the report says. They found the suspect in the lobby and took him into custody without incidents.

“In this case, several charges are persecuted, including the attacks with the intention of murdering and destroying property too maliciously,” the report says. “We thank the Sheriff office of the Monroe County for her investigative work and support in this case.

“The Department of Public Security of Monroe is reminiscent of the citizens that such measures are unacceptable and we will pursue criminals who commit these crimes. We also appreciate the witnesses who have provided information that have contributed to solving this case.”
