Mozambique: 240 criminal proceedings have been set up in connection with the demonstrations after the election

Two hundred criminal proceedings were initiated by the public prosecutor's office of Maputo against those who are responsible for vandalism and acts of violence in this part of the country for vandalism and violent acts.

There are nine proceedings against representatives of the defense and security forces that exceeded the legally defined limits in their actions, and a civil proceedings against alleged financiers reported on the chief prosecutor in the province of Maputo, Evelina Gomane.

“We have cases, some with identified perpetrators and even some defendants who have already tried the main proceedings. But we realize that we go beyond and go a little further, ”she emphasized.

Gomane referred to situations in which a modus operandi is similar in any way, which happened in the province of Cabo Delgado. Therefore, we have to think about summaries and criminal proceedings that affect people's lives and our province, she told Rádio Moçambique.
