Naia News: Blackburn appointed chief basketball coach on Florida College

The Florida College welcomes Brian Blackburn, M.Ed., proud as the new head coach of the men's basketball program. Blackburn brings an impressive track record and a strong commitment to leadership on the basis of faith.

After a remarkable season, Blackburn appears at the Aledo High School to the Florida College, where he led the team to his first district championship in school history and a record winner with 27 wins. His extensive 17-year-old coaching career in Texas, combined with his experience as a basketball player at Division 1 at Texas A & M University, prepared him well for success at college level.

Throughout his career, Blackburn has shown a consistent ability to develop profit and promote school athletes. His awards include the 2021 District 3 Aaaaa coach of 2021 for the winning of the Tabc Don Coleman State Outstanding Coach Award 2016 and leads his team with a national ranking of Max Preps to the 5A UIL Basketball State Championship 2012.

His familiarity with the institution through his work with FC Missouri Camp further strengthened his attraction to this role. “I believe in the vision of Dr. Weaver and the mission of Florida College,” said Blackburn.

With a master's degree in education administration from Lamar University and a Bachelor's degree in kinesiology at Texas A & M University, Blackburn offers a strong educational background to complement its coaching expertise. He was actively involved in various basketball organizations, including as a former director of the West Texas Basketball Coaches Association and participating in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Coaches Outreach program.
