NASCAR Friday plan at Cota Austin

The new NASCAR layout on the Circuit of the Americas will receive its first test on Friday because Xfinity Cars played on the track for training and qualifying.

A new “national” course is used for warehouse cars in road traffic in Austin, Texas. The 2.4 mile layout of 20 rotations shortens the traditional circuit of the route (which is used for Formula 1) by about a mile and shaved about a minute after round times.

The XFinity practice begins at 5 p.m. ET and rolls directly into the qualification in the CW Streaming app shortly after the cover.

The IMSA sanctioned VP Racing Sportscar Challenge will also be used in Cota with practice and qualification.
