NASCAR Saturday plan on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway

The NASCAR Cup series will be on the track on Saturday on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and will practice and qualify for the first time this season on a 1.5 mile oval.

The Pole position was a bad barometer for the racing winner in Las Vegas. Only once (Kyle Busch in 2009) in 34 races won a cup driver after starting the 1.5 mile oval for the first time.

Stage winnings were a good predictor for the Victory Lane: three of the last four winners in Las Vegas also swept the stages.

Hendrick Motorsports drivers won five of the last eight CU RCES in Las Vegas, including four in a row in March.

Austin Hill is the only active XFinity driver on the track.
