Negotiation date for Big Sky Mord case with Daren Abbey | Bolzano

Bozeman, Mont. – The trial against Daren Abbey, which is connected to Dustin Kjersem's murder case, is scheduled to begin on November 3 in the Gallatin County Justice Center. This decision follows an omnibus hearing on Tuesday before the district court.

Judge Peter Ohman planned the trial from November 3 to 14. The state and the defense of Abbey appeared in the hearing to discuss the details of the court hearing.

The state said that the discovery process has not yet been completed because the evidence from the forensic crime laboratory continues to arrive. This process could possibly increase the number of witnesses involved in the process.

Abbey was initially arrested in October for charges for murder of Kjersem. However, the DNA found a beer can at the crime scene with Abbey and connected it to the case. According to the accusations, Abbey claimed that he killed Kjersem in self -defense with an ax, a screwdriver and firewood. Despite his claim, Abbey was missing after the documents defensive wounds.


Jillian Price, Kjersem's sister, spoke at a press conference in October, while the authorities were still looking for the perpetrator. She described her brother and said: “Dustin was a great child. He was born here in Bozeman and worked throughout the valley. It was a hardworking, qualified craftsman. He was a loving, helpful and worshiped father who in no way deserves this .

Abbey faces evidence of a deliberate murder accusation and two charges for manipulation. The attempt should begin on November 3 with the opening of arguments from 9 a.m.
