New exhibition at Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center offers a look at the restoration

St. Peterburg, Florida-in the year, the non-profit organization Tampa Bay Watch works on several projects for roreline restoration. New this year you have introduced an interactive exhibition in your Discovery Center at St. Pete Pier named Living Shorelines to show the community exactly what they are doing and why it is so important.

“It is a precise replica of what we put in the bay, so we wanted to show people what an oyster -neef ball looks like. We wanted to show people what the grasses we install. We wanted to show them how to filter Oysters water and offer habitat for different animals, ”said Leah Biery, Managing Director for Education Director at Tampa Bay Watch.

Living coastal lines were already very popular with excursions, such as a youngest group of North Shore Elementary.

“Everything is life -size; Everything is an exact model of the animals that we see, we even have a tank that shows the real animals, and there is a really good idea of what they could see in our projects in the bay, ”said Biery.

The Tampa Bay Watch also said that the timing of the exhibition could not be more appropriate.

“After Helene and Milton, hurricanes are on everyone's lips last year and many people are looking for opportunities to get involved and protect our community in various ways from hurricanes,” said Biery. “Every time we install a living coast, it is safer from hurricanes.”

The non -profit organization is based every year on thousands of volunteers to do this type of work. It is therefore important that these students understand that they are small, but they can have a major influence.

“It's incredible. So I do what I do. When you see how the next generation is enthusiastic about the environment and nature, my jobs make sense and I think that applies to everyone at Tampa Bay Watch, ”said Biery.
