Newly published BodyCam video shows the reaction to factory fire at SPS Technologies Blaze in Abington Township, Montgomery County

Glenside, Pa. (WPVI) – Newly published Bodycam film material from first aiders shows officers and firefighters who arrive at the scene of the fire at SPS Technologies in Glenside.

The massive fire broke out last Monday evening, as wild flames through the facility, in which materials were produced for the aviation industry.

The 911 calls went out around 9:30 p.m., but when the crews arrived, flames were already through the roof.

Sixty employees were able to evacuate the facility, but at that time the arrival of the crews were not sure whether someone was still inside.

Due to the dangerous conditions, the crews ultimately decided to combat the fire from outside the building and to keep the flames away from nearby houses.

“We will start to evacuate some of these houses here on Stuart. In this way, embers blow emotion in the air,” they hear first aiders on the bodycam video.

This fire would be deleted for days later on Saturday afternoon, but was not officially deleted.

Firefighters spoke about the conditions with which they were confronted.

“It was one of the largest fires I've ever seen,” said Chief Keith Maslin from the Weldon Fire Company.

“There was very violent smoke. You could hear explosions,” recalled Michael Jones Jr., the deputy head of the Abington Fire Company.

“In my eyes it is a miracle that nobody was injured or injured,” Billy Ernst, deputy engineer at the Weldon Fire Company.

Around 65 fire brigade companies, mainly volunteers, reacted to the fire.

While EPA officials say that there is no threat, the air quality and water tests remain near the location.
