Next wave of disruptors, which were presented at Start-up Express International 2024

The start-up Express International 2024 organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) showed some of the most promising start-ups from 11 countries. Seven winners and eight finalists gathered in Hong Kong to present their innovative technical solutions in Fintech, Medtech, AI and sustainability.

The event took place as part of the entrepreneur Day (E-Day) in 2024, increased Hong Kongs Status as a leading innovation and business center and offers commuters, investors and industry leaders a platform to work together and explore scaling in the region.

The assessment process was very competitive. Experts assessed start-ups based on innovation, scalability, market potential and sustainability. The committee comprised leaders from Cyberport, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks (HKStP) and Gobi Partners, who not only selected the winners, but also shared valuable insights into the start-up ecosystem and the expansion options of Hong Kong during a panel discussion.

“Hong Kong serves as a gateway to the Greater Bay Area and beyond. With a flourishing ecosystem, state funds and a simple economy, we offer the perfect launchpad for start-ups, ”said Stephen Liang, deputy executive director at HKTDC, in its opening speech on the panel discussion.

Since the global challenges in water cleaning, air quality and sustainability continue to increase, innovative start-ups such as aquaviolet and bioteos develop state-of-the-art solutions to address these problems.

Aquaviolet is a deep-tech start-up in Singapore, which has developed the UVX disinfection technology, a light-based cleaning system that improves water safety and sustainability by eliminating pathogens with ultraviolet technology with several gangs.
