No. 17 BYU sets BIG 12 Turner Record with 18 3S, rallies according to No. 12 Iowa ST 96-90 in the quarter-finals

Kansas City, Mo.-Richie Saunders scored 23 points and scored a decisive 3 pointer with less than a minute, and No. 17 BYU overcame a big game by Curtis Jones on Thursday in the quarter-finals of the Big 12 tournament in the quarter-finals of the Big 12 tournament.

The Cougars were still around 72-64 with 12 1/2 minutes, when they made an 11-0 run, and Mihailo Boskovics 3-point gave them a lead of 75: 72. The state Iowa tied the game again shortly later, but was never able to regain the lead.

BYU ended it from the foul line in the last minute, where it was 18 out of 21 for the game.

The state of Iowa was careful with its two star guards, hoping that they can be healthy for the NCAA tournament. Gilbert was excluded early and watched in street clothing while Lipsey tried to warm up but never entered the game.

BYU committed 29 sales when it defeated the state Iowa last week. It had only 10 in the quarter -finals.

Key moment

Saunders met his third 3 pointer with a 49.1 second lead to provide BYU a 92-88 lead. Mompilovic missed at the other end and the Cougars were able to control the game the rest of the way.
