Houston Softball suffered an 11-0 loss in five innings against No. 3 Florida on Wednesday at the Cougar Stadium.

The Cougars fell early when the Gators took a 1-0 lead in the opening frame on a solo homerun by newcomer Outfield Taylor Shumaker.

Florida later extended his advantage to 2-0 in the inning, and Houston never replied.

The Gators continued to act on Houston's defensive mistakes and added two solo homeries and a single with two runs in the third inning, which defeated the game.

Shumaker drove in three runs to bring Houston's deficit to 9-0 and to position Florida for a run-rul victory.

In the last inning, the Gator took two more runs to end the Cougars 11-0.

In her sixth game in a row, Freshman Utility Maddie Hartley achieved the base about the lonely hit of the Cougars in the third inning.

Houston used five pitchers and the Freshman Pitcher Gigi Sollis, after he had allowed four goals in 2.1 innings on the hill.

Houston is now 14-6 in the season.

The Cougars will stay at home to play on Friday, March 7th, in the Cougar Softball Stadium with a series with three games against Iowa State in the Cougar Softball Stadium.
