No punishment for students affected by fire

Horry County, SC (WMBF) – In the middle of the Carolina Forest Waldfire, the schools in the region are still in the meeting.

On Tuesday, however, the headmaster of Horry County, if they were affected by the fire, were here to help. They emphasized that although their schools are open, they do not mean that they have to go to class if they are unable due to the fire.

HCS said that parents have to know their children's headmaster what they need.

“If an incident happens or something that really influences the community, we all have to come together and support each other, and we want to be there for our families and we want you to know what needs you have. A absence is easy when it comes to something like that, but there could be other needs that our students have, ”said Lisa Bourcier, a spokeswoman for Horry County Schools.

As expected, HCS said that some schools saw fog, haze and smoke, but they are in operation.

The district also stated that over the years have spent millions of dollars on HLK systems, where they can circulate air in school without bringing external air. However, HCS said that some activities look a little different during the week.

“Sports practices, many of them are switched to internal practices. We have also changed some of the outdoor games, lacrosse and other types of games that we have this week. That is why we are very looking for what we can do to ensure that we all protect and make sure that we put these considerations into force on air quality. Not only in the last few days, but the rest of this week, ”said Bourcier.

Despite all these efforts, some parents remain frustrated and said that communication with the district was not clear enough.

“All children at the outline line had their shirts over their faces and ran into the door as soon as possible. I have to know what's going on. As a working mother, I need to know who my children will watch, and if you know the right thing for the schools of horry County, it would be to contact us, ”said Abby Kirsch, a parent of the horry County School.

HCS also offers the students consulting services if necessary and said that the courses will continue to be continued this week to case.
