Norfolk State Men, Women, both of whom end the schedule for home with victories

Norfolk, VA (WTKR)- Echols Hall has proven to be a difficult place for opponents in recent years, and Norfolk State successfully defended on Monday evening on the men's teams and women.

The Spartan men avoided an earlier defeat against Morgan State (69-60), while the women held their Meac record with a 90-46 victory over the bears.

Larry Vickers watched his Spartan women jump out of the goal. Diamond Johnson connected 4:55 in the first quarter with 4:55 to give Norfolk State a 19:4 lead, and the green and gold never looked back. The squad held Morgan State on just seven points in the second frame to drive 46-21 into the half.

The Spartans kept their feet on the gas after the break, turned the advantage to 40 points in the third and drove to victory.

Johnson went up and down with 22 points, while Kierra Wheeler added 14 points and seven rebounds. Six Spartans achieved two numbers and the NSU forced the bears in 29 sales and scored 38 points from these sales. The green and the gold also shot 64 percent from the ground at night.

Norfolk State improved to 24: 4, 11: 0 in the Meac game and ended his home plan perfectly with 13: 0. The Spartans will go to the state of South Carolina this Saturday.

On the side of the men, Norfolk State got another victory of the conference and won the 78-74 bear victory in Baltimore last month.

In the first half, the two teams fought very early, even though the Spartans created a little pillow. Brian Moore Jr. struck a three pointer to give NSU the lead from 24 to 16 with 7:56 in the opening stanza. The State of Morgan would steal back and reduce the lead to two, but Robert Jones would see how his group rises into the changing room during the break with a lead of 30-26.

The green and the gold would expand its lead to 11 points at two different points in the second half, but Morgan State did not go away. Pull with less than five minutes after five to play them. However, Terrance Jones would answer with a triple to return the gap to eight points, and Norfolk State would continue.

Christian Ings opened the Spartaner with 12 points, while Moore, Jones and Chris Fields Jr. tried 11 points each. Jalen Myers added a double double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. Kuluel Mading pulled 14 boards down to lead the load on the glass.

The NSU crushed the battle of the boards, 52-32 when the squad improved to 20-8, 10-1 in the Meac game and will also visit the state of South Carolina this Saturday afternoon.

Both the Spartan men and women honored their seniors at the celebrations of the evening. Eight Norfolk State Men and two women were recognized in front of the amount of Echols Hall.
