Chief Lash also said that he had prayed to recover a third officer who was shot on Saturday.

Yesterday, when others fled the danger, more than 60 police officers and state troops ran towards it without hesitation. Her courage and selflessness in the face of unimaginable circumstances were heroic. I can't express enough how proud I am on every officer who reacted to this incident, as well as those who continued to protect its communities while this dark day unfolded. In my 32 years in law enforcement, I have never seen such an overwhelming presentation of bravery and commitment to the duty. York County is really blessed to have such outstanding civil servants who put the safety of others over themselves.

Chief Lash also spoke about Officer Andrew Duarte, who was killed in the shootout. He said Duarte's “Bravery and selflessness should inspire us all.”

A total of 5 people were injured in the shootings, including 3 UPMC employees. The hospital system said that all three are in a stable state and drive themselves forward in their recovery.
