NYS High School Girls Wrestling Championships: Section V result updates

This is a historical day for the girl's sport in the state of New York, as the first recognized state championships take place in Albany.

There are 22 wrestlers from schools in section V, which are swept in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Girls Wrestling Championships in the MVP Arena.

East Rochester, Canandaigua, Fairort and Midlakes each had three teammates at the one -day tournament with 13 weight classes and 16 wrestlers in every bracket. A total of 208 wrestler qualified from sections around the state.

Last year there was a state invitation at the end of the season at the Onondaga Community College. Peyton MullinA second year in Dundee in section V this winter, won her weight class.

Mulllin was a No. 1 seed in the 235 pound weight class when the campaign started in Albany on Friday. So was Teegan -SibbleA 114 pound senior in Bolivar-Richburg. Sibble was a second place in the 2024 state. Honeoye Falls Limas Jasmine BrucatoA 100-pound second seed was a No. 2 seeds. She wrestles the merged Alexander/Byron-Bergen/HF-L/Pembroke team.

Three wrestlers of schools and teams from section V made it to the semi -finals: Peyton MulliN (Dundee), Teegan -Sibble (Bolivar-Richburg) and Alexander/Byron-Bergen/Honeoye Falls-Lima/Pembroke team member Jasmine Brucato.

The other 22 qualifications from Section V are located in the consolation class, including the three groups of Fairport, Canandaigua and East Rochester.

Mulllin is two victories away today when he deserves an official state championship. It is in the semi -finals at 2 p.m. after she had set 29 seconds to her quarter -finals.
