Obtime Plano Mall to start transformation

Like many shopping centers, the shops in Willow Bend had become out of date. Now the City Council of Plano has agreed to leave it CentennialThe new shopping center owner is doing things to make room for a new experience that will be more than just shopping. The company has a green light to tear down more than a third of the suburban mall and to build a development with apartments, town halls, retail, a hotel, office and restaurant areas.

Centennial will rename the development in the bend and plan to include 800,000 square meters of retail, restaurant and entertainment areas, up to 965 residential units, a high-rise building and a seven-story office building.

The Dallas News reports that despite hundreds of millions of dollars spent by previous owners, the shopping center has never put on enough buyers and shops. If the financing is secured, the demolition could begin later this year. Construction will take place over three years and will probably be completed in 2028.
