Oceanside pier after fire-damaged buildings torn NBC 7 San Diego

Ten months after a massive fire burned part of the legendary oceanide pier, the crews ended the last of the damaged buildings and the deck at the end of the pier. NBC 7 drone material shows what the pier looked like on Friday.

According to the city of Oceanside, the engineers can now better look at the piles to test their condition.

A personnel report that was shared by Oceanside city council last week shows that the work took longer than expected, since the contractors found that all pieces in which the coding kept on the spot had to be removed and replaced.

Initially, only about 15% awaited them. The city council approved additional money to cover the additional work.

The fire broke out at the other end of the pier on April 25th. The office for alcohol, tobacco, firearms and explosives found that it was random and started with an electrical problem.

The entire reconstruction process is expected to take several years and cost at least 17 million US dollars. City Manager Jonathan E. Borrego confirmed NBC 7 in May that Oceanside only expected a complete reopening of the pier in 2027.

When Miah Idema brought the legendary oceanide pier out of his studio, he immediately used his drone to catch the sights.
